The Winning Poster

Entry 15 – 332 Votes

Submitted By:  Thomas Wilson

The original design for this poster was drawn free-hand with a 005 black pen on a piece of 18 by 24 inch paper. No ruler, no mechanical tools. Just plenty of eye/brain/hand coordination and five plus decades of experience. The idea of hand-created art fits with the spirit of ABANA, and the symmetry of the word ABANA on the page inspired the central element, made to look like the letters are forged in iron with the legs of the letter “A” extending into the fire on the left, and hot cut on the right. Twenty variations of the design were attempted before settling on this poster, and just the cross-hatching of the background took 40 hours.
