JoAnn has also owned and operated a 501(c)3 Educational Non-Profit involved in blacksmithing demonstrations in Pennsylvania as well as a retail Blacksmith Shoppe in Tennessee selling items made by numerous blacksmiths including Dan Boone and Doug Merkel. She has been a hobby blacksmith for ten years and has taken several blacksmith classes at John C. Campbell’s Folk Art School. She is a member of several ABANA Affiliates, where she has assisted with their regional event registrations and has published several articles in their newsletters.
JoAnn currently lives in Jonesborough, Tennessee with her husband, ABANA Board Member, Lance Davis.
Web Administrator – Frank Van Pelt
Frank Van Pelt assists JoAnn in the Central Office. He has also taken over for Bill Clemens as ABANA’s NEW Web Administrator. While his training in the Navy was mess management (yes, he’s an excellent cook!), Frank has taken many business and computer classes through college to help him prepare for today’s technical world. His most recent passion is automotive repair and welding, and an interest in hammering hot iron. Expect to see more of Frank at conferences, hammer-ins and meetings in the future.
Frank will use his technical design and development skills to run the ABANA site. He is continuously updating the blog section and looking for ways to improve the appeal and functionality. His goal is to improve the speed and efficiency of the website. In doing so, he tests the site for design flaws and usability across multiple browsers and operating systems. He has a strong set of problem solving skills, troubleshooting and can resolve complex technical issues. Yes, Frank spends many hours sitting at a desk in front of a computer.
