After the Conference:

Level II National Curriculum Class at Touchstone Center for Crafts

Come for the ABANA Conference, Stay for the Class at Touchstone!

Join instructors Mark Aspery and Victoria Ritter for this project-based workshop centered on Level II of the ABANA National Blacksmith Curriculum. The class will focus on Level II skills, up to but not including the Level II grille. Participants will start with forge welding using the basket-handled poker project that contains a cornucopia of welding techniques. Evening activities will concentrate on hand tooling and basic heat treatment. The power hammer will be utilized to help facilitate the completion of the leafing hammer. Bottom tools, upset square corners, and scrollwork will round out the week. Successful workshop completion will enable you to receive ABANA Level I Instructor certification (after signing the ABANA safety policy). You will also be led through some of the projects required for the ABANA Level II & III certifications. If you have completed most of the requirements for ABANA Level I certification and are looking to move on, then this course is for you!

Touchstone Center for Crafts is only 1.5 hours from the ABANA Conference site.
